As a new parent juggling a newborn photo shoot into the first week might sound daunting, but there are a few things you can do to help prepare for such a wonderful time in the studio.
#1 – Choose the Right Time
Arranging to photograph your newborn photo shoot in the first week of their birth is highly recommended. For the best photo results, we encourage you to pre-book anywhere between three to seven days after their birth.
However, if there are any complications during this first week, you can extend up to two weeks from their arrival. Please note, a more extended period beyond fourteen days can be a struggle as newborns tend to explore their muscles by stretching, which always leads to a challenging photo session.
#2 – Feed Your Baby
The second thing you can control to ensure your baby has a smooth session is to make sure they are well fed and burped just before the photo session. There’s nothing like having a tummy full of warm sustenance to keep your baby feeling happy and sleepy. It is during these times your newborn photographer will get the best poses.
#3 – Don’t Let Them Sleep
Finally, the last thing you can control before the photography session is your newborn’s sleeping pattern. We encourage you to entice them to stay awake a little more than they want to before the photography session as this will always lead to them sleeping through by the time the camera comes out.
By following these three tips, you will significantly increase the comfort for your newborn and the resulting photos will undoubtedly reflect this. After all, there is nothing more peaceful and beautiful than a sleeping baby. The memories we can create together for your newborn during this time in their new lives will be everlasting and something you will look back on in the years and decades to come.
